Veterans

We know that returning home can sometimes be challenging.  That’s why we offer you Maryland’s Commitment to Veterans, a service that will put you and your family in touch with resources to ease your transition into civilian life.  Whether you need someone to talk to about a problem or need help with your benefits, we can help.

Our confidential toll-free telephone line, 877-770-4801, is staffed and available anytime, day or night.  A Regional Resource Coordinator will return your call to determine how we can help arrange individual counseling, substance abuse support or family and group therapy.  If transportation is an issue, let us know, and we will work with you to find transportation
We also provide referrals for:

  • Job resources
  • Education assistance
  • Housing
  • VA benefits

We’re here to help

When you call 1-877-770-4801 any day or night, you'll speak directly to a live representative. Your words are confidential and you'll never reach a machine.

These trained individuals will connect you to a local Regional Resource Coordinator in your area, who knows what services are available and more importantly, how to access them. The Coordinators can help you obtain services through the VA in an expedited manner, or if adequate service is not available, they can connect you to a private provider to fill the gaps in service.
They can also help by providing local, state and federal resource information and contacts. Even veterans with a less than honorable discharge are eligible for services through Maryland's Commitment to Veterans.

Understanding that each person experiences his or her own challenges, Regional Resource Coordinators are available to find the best services to meet each veteran’s needs.

Employment assistance

If you are a veteran looking for work, please visit our Maryland Veterans Online Employment Resource Guide to assist you with these needs.

Housing resource

The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development offers a free online rental housing locator, just click on "Find Rental Housing."

The service is easy to use and easy to access. Landlords can advertise attractive details about their properties that include maps, neighborhood information, and pictures. Residents can search online to produce customized housing matches. The service is always free for landlords, tenants and service providers.

Listings can be searched by location, rental amount, amenities, and other variables. The service provides a comprehensive list of affordable rentals, Section 8 rentals and special needs housing. Landlords or tenants who do not have access to or feel comfortable using the Internet can call a toll-free bilingual number to receive up-to-date housing information by phone, mail, or fax.
For additional assistance, call (877) 428-8844. Support is provided Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.- 8 p.m.

The page also offers links to special needs housing, maintainence, and assistance programs.
